Join REI Outdoor School at Topa Topa Brewing Company to learn about the benefits of cooking with cast iron! Learn about how to prepare an outdoor kitchen with the efficiency of cast iron. Instructors will discuss how to season your pans and how to properly prepare your charcoals for cooking. Learn strategies for cooking delicious meals using simple ingredients with minimal cleanup so you can spend less time scrubbing and more time enjoying the outdoors. This class is hand-on and takes place outside, so be prepared for the weather and come hungry! The price of the class includes a voucher for a pint of beer for all participants over 21.

  • Students will gain a sense of how to pack and prepare camp meals ahead of time for easy cooking execution in the outdoors
  • Students will learn about the various products used for equipping outdoor cooking areas
  • Students will learn about specific Dutch Oven cooking method which may include: Meal Planning, Preparation Process, Dutch Oven cooking, Campfire cooking, Cooking with Kids, Leave No Trace Outdoor Ethics
