Composition for Outdoor Photographers
- Group size: 8
- Instructor: REI Specialist
In this presentation, REI Outdoor School instructors will help unlock the secrets of photographic composition. Whether you shoot photographs with your Smartphone, point-and-shoot, SLR, film or digital there are composition principles you can employ to help give your photography more story-telling power. To create more compelling images that tell your story more clearly you will learn about the Rule-of-Thirds, the 3 pillars of composition, the Elements of design, horizontal vs. vertical as well as other concepts of composition. Photographs are used to help explain each concept with real world examples of how you can create stronger images. Join us for this creative discussion with plenty of room for conversation. You will walk away with a stronger understanding of what makes some photos "work" and what can ruin a great composition. Most importantly you will have compositional tools you can use to create photographs that speak for themselves. Participants under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a participating responsible adult.
This class will be held offsite at the Caldwell Nature Preserve. Please dress for the weather.
