The next step in your mountaineering adventure. Join our mountain guides to learn the skills and techniques for roped team glacier travel. This course will help prepare you for climbing big mountains like Mount Shasta or Mount Rainier by enriching mountain skills and decision making processes. You will learn the skills and techniques for roped team glacier travel. This will include team movement, self-arrest, knots, rope management, and snow anchors. This class is appropriate for those with some previous mountaineering skills.
- Practice techniques to safely climb and descend steep snow slopes.
- Learn and practice rope team setup and travel.
- Learn and practice movement through 4th class terrain.
Notes
Class logistic emails will be sent out the week of your class. CA SNO-PARK Passes REQUIRED for each vehicle, available for purchase at your Sacramento Area REI. A daily pass is $5 or a seasonal pass is $25.
