Prepare for the unexpected in this hands-on introduction to wilderness medicine program taught by our partners at NOLS. If you work in a wilderness setting, enjoy outdoor activities or recreation opportunities, this 16-hour course is for you! Instruction will take place in classrooms and outdoor settings regardless of weather. Course completion results in a Wilderness First Aid certification. IMPORTANT: COVID-19 vaccination is required. Please bring proof of vaccination to your course. A negative COVID-19 test will not be accepted. On a case-by-case basis, NOLS may make an accommodation; please inquire directly via email@example.com.
This course is open to participants ages 16 and up. The course runs 8am-5pm on a Saturday and a Sunday, with an hour for lunch on each day. REI does not provide accommodations. Still have questions about this class? You can reach our Local Experiences team Monday through Friday 10 AM - 5 PM at firstname.lastname@example.org and by phone at (855)258-9509. We look forward to hearing from you!
Ipswich River offers 12 miles of trails that invite you to explore the forests, meadows, wetlands, drumlin, and esker. You can also travel down the namesake river, which meanders through the sanctuary, by canoe. Whether exploring by foot or paddle, you will marvel at the diversity of wildlife, especially bird species; the sanctuary is part of the Eastern Essex County Interior Forest Important Bird Area.
