Prepare for the unexpected in this hands-on introduction to wilderness medicine program taught by our partners at NOLS. If you work at wilderness camps, enjoy weekend family outdoor activities, or recreate outdoors, this is for you! During this two-day, 16-hour course you will learn the Patient Assessment System, how to provide effective first aid treatments for common outdoor injuries and illnesses, and how to make appropriate evacuation decisions. Instruction will take place in classrooms and outdoor settings regardless of weather, be prepared for any condition. Course completion results in a Wilderness First Aid certification. IMPORTANT: NOLS is requiring all students to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 on all NOLS Wilderness Medicine courses. Wilderness Medicine instructors will review student vaccination cards at the start of the course. Please be sure to bring your vaccination card with you to your course.
- You may be eligible to recertify your NOLS Wilderness Advanced First Aid, Wilderness First Responder, or W-EMT (wilderness portion only) using this course. Review NOLS recertification policies before registering (https://www.nols.edu/en/courses/wilderness-medicine/recertify).

What to bring with you
This training is 8am-5pm each day and will not require or provide overnight camping on Saturday night. When the training is over on Saturday at 5pm, we will leave the park and reconvene on Sunday morning at 8am.

Please note that McKinney Roughs Nature Park is different from McKinney Falls State Park. McKinney Roughs Nature Park has a $5 entrance fee. Please pay when you arrive at the Visitors' Center.
