Come find out how to participate in this great winter fitness sport! Our REI instructors will take you out and show you the basics of starting, stopping, turning and gliding across the snow on classic cross-country skis. After our skill-building session, we'll go out on the trail to practice our new found skills and discover a great way to get outside in the winter!
Instructors will cover basics of choosing and properly fitting equipment (boots, skis, and poles), fundamentals of classic cross-country skiing, including starting, stopping, ascending and descending hills as well as safely falling.
What to bring with you
Gear list
A list of required and optional gear items to bring to class, as well as gear provided by REI.
Bring to class:

Base Layers - Wool or synthetic.
Daypack - Large enough to carry water, food and layers.
Personal Prescription Medications - Including, but not limited to, epinephrine auto-injectors for anaphylactic allergies.
Rain Gear - Waterproof/resistant jacket, pants and hat.
Snacks
Synthetic/Wool Layers - Clothing that retains warm when wet.
Warm Gloves
Warm Hat
Warm Jacket - Down or Synthetic.
Warm Socks - Wool or Synthetic.
Water Bottle
