Color My Outdoors Storytelling Series

Join Color My Outdoors and the BIPOC outdoor community on Saturday, March 25 to meet Erick Cedeno. Cedeno's bike-packing adventures include tours from Canada to Mexico and from Miami Beach to New York City. Even more impressive is Cedeno's passion for retracing history and sharing untold narratives. In 2014 and 2020, the Bicycle Nomad followed the historic path of the Underground Railroad and rode from New Orleans to Canada. Last year, Cedeno honored the 125th anniversary of an epic bicycle ride few have heard of in their history lessons. In 1897, the Buffalo Soldiers, the all-Black regiment of U.S. Soldiers, rode bicycles 1,900 miles from Montana to Missouri. The goal of the 41-day journey was to test the feasibility of replacing horses with bikes in military operations. The regiment biked more than 50 miles daily, pedaling through rain, snow, and challenging terrain. After diligent historical research, Cedeno retraced their route in summer of 2022. He will share this story with us in Atlanta on Saturday, March 25th. Click the link in the bio to RSVP and bring a friend! This story is appropriate and inspiring for ALL generations.
