Marshview Park, site of the mountain biking trails now in development, has been chosen as the location for this year's Virginia Beach Great American Cleanup. The GAC is a national event where volunteers help beautify a local area, like a land-based Clean the Bay Day. It is sponsored locally by the VB Clean Community Commission and run by staff from VB Parks & Recreation.
Work zones have been set up for crews of 25 volunteers to focus on specific areas in the park, helping to comply with limits on gatherings due to COVID regulations. The bicycling & outdoor community is being given first dibs on the slots available, in the hope that EVMA and others can use the opportunity to get to know each other, see the park, and identify future trail maintenance volunteers. If you have ridden or walking in the park you know there is real work to be done near the recently developed areas, along the creeks, as well as deeper into the forest.
