I have 6 days off between Christmas and New Years and am planning a road trip starting in Wisconsin and heading to the Great Sand Dunes, Mesa Verde, and Black Canyons of the Gunnison. I'm aware of some closures in those parks during the off season, and am fine with that - there will still be amazing sights to see.
I will be solo-female-traveling and am planning to sleep in my Honda CR-V most nights in Walmart or Casino parking lots, but I'll probably splurge on a hotel a few nights too. The longest drive stretch will be around 10 hours. I'll also be keeping an eye on the weather approaching the trip to see if it's worth going if there are major snow storms coming.
I'd love any advice on safety, spots to stop and see, and how to make my car feeling cozy and warm at night!
