I am an avid hiker, backpacker, camper, and outdoor photographer living in Southwest Ohio. My love of the outdoors started at an early age, learning to hunt and fish with my father, and taking numerous family camping trips in the remote Northwoods of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. I also enjoy planning, organizing, and leading group hikes, campouts, and backpacking trips, and have a passion for keeping others safe in the outdoors spending a week each summer teaching children outdoor safety and adventure skills.
As often as possible, my wife and I are out on the trail day hiking in the many parks and forests within a couple hours drive of home, and we are fortunate to have visited and hiked several U.S. National Parks including Yosemite, Shenandoah, Glacier, Rocky Mountain, Big Bend, Canyonlands, Arches, Great Sand Dunes, Mesa Verde, and Capitol Reef, as well as Banff and Yoho in Canada. We like getting away for short weekend backpacking trips to the Red River Gorge Geological Area in the Daniel Boone National Forest, Kentucky when we can, and have also taken extended backpacking trips to Canyonlands National Park in Utah, as well as Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore and Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula.
