My go to pants are several pairs of North Face Paramount Convertibles, 511 Tactical for heavy brush and bushwacking and Marmot full-zip rain pants. Added gaiters to the lineup about a year ago which I really like, especially in Fl. with snakes and other nasty critters, briers. Gives you a nice feeling of security.

We have 2 Advanced Elements Inflatables. Set up in under 5 minutes especially with and electric air pump that plugs into our Outback. Never used them in any kind of whitewater. They seem very seaworthy. Bottom shell is same material as Zodiac Inflatable boats. Used in Everglades, Costal Backwater, Lakes, Silver River, locations all over Fl. Pack very nicely into included bag. We are rookies but they are great for what we do. No issues.

The question of bear spray effectiveness against wild hogs was posted a few months back. No one had an answer so I contacted the leading manufacturer which responded right away which really told me about their customer service. They stated it would work. I have personally come eye to eye with with one hog that probably weighed in around 150# at about 20’ in mangroves so basically no where to run or climb. I really thought this was going to be quite the showdown. We looked at each other several seconds, it grunted, turned and went back into the brush. If you plan on shooting one you better be a really, really good shot with some luck to throw in the mix. I personally carry both but after talking to the mfg. I am going for the spray first. These things aren’t cute little porky pig type of hogs, these bad boys are weighing in at over 200# r

We have had several run ins with wild hogs, especially in the Eagle Creek area. Trails torn up, hog skat everywhere. They will charge in the blink of an eye and are extremely fast. We both have our Bear Spray ready when we see the signs. IMO I don’t think I would be hiking in that area with earbuds, I want to be 100% aware of my surroundings when these critters are around.

Sorry, I seem to have offended you. I guess Nikon mislabeled my camera where it says macro. Your way too technical for me. In the old film days I shot a lot of underwater shots with a Nikonos lll so I am quite familiar with extension tubes. You seem to be quite the self proclaimed expert. Let’s see some examples. Your incorrect about the crab shot. The little fellow came strolling through our campsite. Set the camera on macro and placed it aprox 3-4” on the ground in front of him and waited for him to peek out. Again sorry I got you so upset.

IMO I don’t understand why you consider macro so difficult. First I never use a tripod. I use a Nikon AW 130 point and shoot. Just set to macro and fire away. Getting the little critters to stand still or scaring them off is more an issue than wind.
