how times have changed!  For years, nay decades, I eagerly awaited the arrival of the REI catalog in my maibox, faithfully delivered by the Pony Express (I am exaggerating only slightly).  Its arrival was only rivaled by the arrival of the Sears catalog (If you are old enough, you may remember them.  They are likely to file for bankruptcy this year).  Then you filled out the form, wrote a check, and waited.  Within five or so weeks, you had the cherished item you requested.
