Women's Wilderness is excited to be launching an OPEN call for people to serve on our Board of Directors! Link to apply. We know there must be a number of highly-qualified, insightful people who aren’t on our limited radar who would be amazing additions to our team. Also, we are interested in challenging traditional power structures and this notion of ‘tapping’ the privileged few who get to lead us in this capacity - it’s inconsistent with our perspective of equity and justice. Our Board of Directors has made a sincere commitment to better represent the work that we do in our governance composition and to critically look at how we are evolving to center race and other factors of intersectional discrimination throughout the organization, but specifically in our leadership. Who We Are Looking For We are looking for people with experience, skills and resources that can contribute to our mission in many ways. We are very open. Some areas of expertise that we have specifically identified as high-potential fit are: Medical (specialty related to physical health, mental health, adolescents, trauma/adverse childhood experiences, wilderness medicine) Accounting and/or strategic finance (non profit or for profit) Legal Government (specifically in offices related to our focus areas, all levels) Racial equity and/or justice Gender equity and/or justice LGBTQ+ equity and/or justice Environmental protection/conservation and/or stewardship Philanthropy Nonprofit fundraising and/or events Business (specifically leadership development, human resources, diversity/equity/inclusion) Outdoor industry, outdoor education, wilderness therapy Anyone is welcome to apply. We’d like our Board to be diverse in all ways. We encourage applications from people who are typically underrepresented in the outdoors, on Boards and in nonprofit leadership, based on race, ability, age, gender identity, sexual orientation, socioeconomic class, etc. We hold values of diversity, inclusion and equity close and seek to uplift the voices and experiences of people who hold non-dominant identities. More details can be found here. Contact email@example.com with any questions.
