Are you looking for a foam type or blow up? I have the Big Agnes Q-Core SLX and it is quite plush. It's a 3.5in air pad, I can sleep on my side with no problem and it's held up well.

I would talk with your vet. Generally, depending on breed, dog's joints/bones aren't fully developed until at least 1 year if not 2. 20 miles may be too much strain, unless you plan on packing your pup for parts of it.

A saving piece of any pup-pack we've had is a handle on the pack. REI used to make a great pup-pack but sadly discountinued, however the handle saved me (and my dog) several times on the trails. Using a handle we could help him on ladders, steep descents and even tricky water crossings. I think a lot of pup-packs still have it and i would never choose one without it.

A kindle paperwhite. I like to be at camp around 3/4PM so good to relax with a nice book after making camp. Makes me nervous to bring electronics but has fared well so far.
