Week 43: Save money and water by installing water-efficient fixtures.
Water-efficient fixtures can be used in toilets, urinals, showerheads and faucets to reduce the flow of water, allowing you to use at least 20 percent less water than conventional fixtures, according to theEPA. This means significant savings on water bills for you (the EPA estimates that a family can save more than $380 annually by installing water-efficient fixtures), and it helps with overall water conservation efforts (which in turnreduces the amount of energy needed to process and deliver water, which reduces pollution). You can buy low-flow fixtures at your local hardware store, and the EPA’sWater Sense pageoffers more information about installation.
