I will be participating in my second, half-marathon this fall and would like beat my time from last year. I don't have the best knees (thank you middle age!) so running is not an option, but I am looking for tips on how to increase my walking speed. Any marathon-walkers have tips? Thank you!
I love that your not letting your knees hold you back! I encourage you to train by walking up and down hills. This will help improve your strength and stamina while also increasing your stride length.
You might also think about using trekking poles. I've found that trekking poles give me a better walking posture which helps me to walk with less impact on my ankles, knees, and hips. This also will helps with your stamina and recovery!
Here's to a new PR!
What should one look for in trekking poles? l would be trail running with intermittent "power" hiking some ascents? Brands, features? i am 6'2" tall so also curios if they are sized or most likely adjustable?
