Max Patch was recently closed to overnight camping. But setting up nearby off the AT and experiencing the sunset and to venture out the next morning for a magnificent sunrise is worth the 4+ hour drive.
Hammock camping with an underquilt pays off, even in July
Hi @vgrindst - Thanks for sharing this report with us! It's great to hear you had such a wonderful time camping.
Do you have any photos of your hammock set up from the trip? There are a lot of hammock campers in the community and it's always fun to see what methods and gear other people are using!
I'm sorry that I didn't take photos of our set up. It did consist of dual ENO double nest hammocks tandem mounted using Atlas Suspension and utilizing the Fuse tandem separation tubes under a common rain fly. Also, even though we are southeast in July, we used underquilts to keep everything cozy.
It did get a little cool at night.
@vgrindst - No apologies necessary. That sounds amazing!
Thanks for sharing those details. When people come to the community asking about hammock camping, especially with two hammocks, we'll be sure to tag you so you can share your expertise.
