Transportation Alternatives - November Volunteer Events

Transportation Alternatives' mission is to reclaim New York City's streets from the automobile and advocate for better bicycling, walking, and public transit for all New Yorkers. Transportation Alternatives activists are leading the fight to improve infrastructure for bicycling and walking on scores of local streets and to change traffic enforcement policy and practices citywide. The goal is to achieve Vision Zero — the elimination of traffic deaths and serious injuries on New York City’s streets.

Transportation Alternatives Black Friday Kissena Way Walking Park Tour (12-2pm)

Transportation Alternatives is hosting a walking tour of Kissena Way- the bike and pedestrian path connecting Queens parks. Kissena Corridor Park is over 100 acres of natural space adjacent to Main Street Flushing. The park is a neighborhood oasis with a five-acre community garden, the Rachel Carson & Silent Spring Playground, and soon, a meditation garden. While the park has a lot to offer the community that lives and works near it, the park lacks accessibility. Transportation Alternatives is working to develop a family-safe path through Kissena Corridor Park with connections to Kissena Park and Flushing Meadows Park. Meet Inside of Kissena Corridor Park (Main St and Elder Avenue entrance) and wear comfortable walking shoes and clothes you don’t mind getting a little muddy.

RSVP here.

At REI, we believe time outside is fundamental to a life well lived.
