Ecology Park- Forest Restoration Saturdays: Volunteer with the NYC Parks Stewardship Team and the Natural Areas Conservancy in Ecology Park! Volunteers will learn how to identify and safely remove invasive plants in order to help restore natural areas and create a healthier ecosystem. These events are generously supported by the Jamaica Bay-Rockaway Parks Conservancy. Timing: 9am-11:30am. Meeting location: Ecology Park, Bergen Avenue b/w Avenue T & Cove Lane. Activity level: Easy to Moderate. Required gear: Come dressed in sturdy boots or shoes, long pants, and clothing that can get dirty. Please bring your own water bottle for this event. Provided gear: Gloves and work tools. About Ecology Park: Come and help us care for New York City’s only Ecology Park, located in the Paerdegat Basin Natural Area Preserve. Ecology Park is a heavily-designed landscape meant to educate visitors on the various habitats and plant communities found both historically and currently throughout New York City. The park includes a pedestrian walkway, viewing platforms, and has been planted diversely to highlight the variety of plant communities that can be found around Jamaica Bay.
