Wild East Women's Workday on the Michaux (PA) - 9/6
Join the Mountain Club of Maryland and the Appalachian Trail Conservancy’s Director of Science and Stewardship on a fun filled work day on the Appalachian Trail in Michaux State Forest in Pennsylvania. Enjoy a 1.5 mile round trip hike to the James Fry Shelter while learning about local ecology and Leave No Trace principles. This work day is the chance for new volunteers, as well as those with experience, to help protect the A.T. while meeting new folks and having a blast.
Work on September 6th will include a campsite and shelter clean-up, fire ring rebuilds and sign installations. This event is suitable for women of all ages with the ability to hike 2 miles caring 15 pounds. All training and tools will be provided. Please wear long pants and sturdy boots. Bring work gloves, lunch, a rain jacket, sun protection, and plenty of water.
Meeting time is 10am. You'll be back at your car by about 3pm. GPS coordinates of the meeting location will be provided in advance to all participants.
