Griffith Park is the best. There are so many trails to explore. And the farther you get away from the observatory, the fewer people you'll encounter. You have a strong chance of seeing deer. If you hike alone, and quietly, you might even see a bobcat!
Debs Park in Northeast LA is a go to for my family. A network of trails spanning several miles, a few parks, a pond and lots of great smelling native plants. While it's a little more crowded on the weekends, it's nowhere near as crowded as some of the more popular LA trails get (Griffith Park, etc.) But during the week it's nice and open.
