I started backpacking in the early 70's after being discharged from the Army. Hiked most of the John Muir trail in sections over a four year period. Road my Bicycle across the United States in 1976 on the inaugural trail, developed by the Bikecentennial Organization (called Adventure Cycling today). I am interested in getting back into Cycling again for the exercise and enjoyment that it provides me.

It sounds like you have quite a bit of outdoor experience, we are looking forward to tapping in to that expertise with questions here in the community. If you'd like to check it out, we have a bikepacking group that you may find interesting given your bike ride across the US.
