Hello fellow REI members! My name is Lisa and I'm a Portland, OR native currently living in Washington, DC. I grew up camping around Mt. Hood, hiking in the Columbia Gorge and running and exploring in Forest Park. More recently, I've gotten into rock climbing (indoors so far) and backpacking too, and I get around by bike. If I had to choose between the beach or the mountains, I'd choose the mountains but I love both. If I had to choose between mountains and forests, I'd refuse. I work for an environmental advocacy nonprofit, Environment America (better known by our state groups, eg Environment Oregon or Environment Virginia). I'm eager to connect with people about hiking/backpacking destinations near DC; improving my climbing; and conservation advocacy.
@LisaKF thanks for joining the community and the intro! Don't be surprised if we tag you in conversations about Portland, DC, camping, hiking, running, backpacking, hiking, climbing and advocacy!!
Hey @LisaKF ! Thanks for the intro! I, too, am a PNW native living in DC. I grew up in Everett, WA and have been in DC for just over a year now. I love all the different ways DC allows you to be mobile. The bike commute options are unreal!
I miss the ocean sometimes - and especially my favorite national park, Olympic. I'd choose beaches over mountains and love that Olympic NP offers both.
Once we re-open our stores, we look forward to seeing you and continue talking DC outdoors!
