Hey folks, my name is Nathan, and I am a recent transplant to Oregon from North Carolina. I grew up backpacking with the Boy Scouts on the AT in and around my home state, and got to do some great adventures elsewhere in the country with them as well. Recently I've gotten into long distance canoeing, and hope eventually to run every navigable river in Oregon. Maybe there's a PCT run in there for me as well, we'll see.
Happy trails.
Hi Nathan - Welcome to the community! Thanks for taking the time to introduce yourself. Your goal to run every navigable Oregon river is quite impressive. We're excited hear more of your stories and expertise going forward!
We hope some fellow Oregonians can share some of their favorite spots to paddle and explore around the state. @Bryanne, @HaveKidsWillTravel, @POCOPAM, @ONDA-Caelin - have any gems to share with someone new to Oregon?
You will also find some others here that are passionate about long distance paddling. @Rivergal started a great thread on our Watersports board about GPS recommendations for long distance paddlers that you might find interesting.
We're happy to have you here and look forward to the conversations ahead!
Welcome to my beautiful home state!!!
I image you’ve done extensive research already on the area.
I can’t even begin to keep up with the endurance level needed for your exploration.
but if you need help with some short 2-3 mile hikes with kids and dogs, a million accessories, toys, gear, snacks... I’m your gal!! Haha 😆
