You have come to a great spot to learn lots of information about hiking and ask any questions you can think of! Our hiking board is a good place to look around and see what conversations are already happening.
Hi Carter and Jen! Although Oregon Natural Desert Association's geography is east of Portland, we do offer a ton of resources for planning high desert hikes to some unique and really stunning desert areas that are definitely worth a visit. Our website, ONDA.org, is a good place to start learning about different sights to see in the desert, and our Oregon Desert Trail page has trip planning, LNT and Know Before You Go resources, maps and more. Desert hiking does come with its own set of risks and challenges, so it's important to read the materials on that page in detail, especially when planning more remote hikes. ONDA's team is always available to answer questions and offer hiking suggestions at firstname.lastname@example.org. For high desert hikes that are a bit closer to Portland, you can also check out our Central Oregon Visitor's Guide for hikes in the area!
