My wife, a fit ultramarathoner, and I, a fat **bleep**, are beginning to get into backpacking. We are very experienced motorcycle campers and are now going to do it on our own two (four?) feet. Should be a blast if I don't die (and dying out in the woods is not the worst thing that can happen, at least the raccoons and opossums get fed).

Thanks! I am a bit north of syracuse (snow belt) and we intend to do the cranberry lake 50 this summer and, if not eaten by bears, mosquitos, cannibals, etc., we plan to do the npt. I am considering a bear can rather than hanging a dry bag as it seems likely that they will be required soon enough.
