I was wondering about some light gear and gear that I will need/you recommend for hiking the AP my current tent is the Passage 1
Thanks for reaching out @Thadd_Lendzion !
The search for lightweight gear is a popular topic nowadays. I’m linking you to a helpful post from a few weeks ago that had some great advice around the subject, specifically starting with the pack department! Lightening My Pack
In addition here is a link to additional articles that you may find helpful! Expert Advice: Hiking
I’m also going to tag some of our hiking experts (both employees and other community members) that might be able to share personal experiences with some of the gear with you! @REI-EthanS @REI-CaitiA @REI-BreeM @REI-JasonO @REI-EricP and @OldGuyot @Rob6 @Philreedshikes @TomIrvine
Lastly, I have been using a passage tent for many years and love it!
Sorry for the delay guys. Been working from home and after a full day of that, the last thing I want to do is spend more time on the computer.
I personally have not ever attempted a thru-hike, and am more of a fan of durability and functionality, so, while I do certainly consider weight, it's far from my highest priority.
I did just recently get a Passage 1 tent from the Used site, but have only had the chance to try it out in my backyard. So far, I find it roomy (for a 1P) and easy to set up.
Hope you have an opportunity soon to get out on the trail and that you find all the right gear you need!
