Achilles Pain with Hiking Boots

Hi there,

I got Oboz Sawtooth hiking boots after trying Solomons and experiencing significant ankle pain after a 3 day backpacking trip. These were my first pair of hiking 'boots' have always had shoes previously. I have been wearing these boots for about a year, but on and off. Recently, the Obozs have been hurting my left Achilles after about 8ish miles on the trail.

Any advice? Recommendations for alternative boots? New ways to lace? I will take anything!

Thanks for reaching out, although we're sorry it is because you are experiencing pain with your boots. There could be many reasons that you are having this issue: from improper fit, to your foot moving too much in the boot, or many other factors. We recommend taking your boots in to your local REI store to speak with a footwear expert. They can look at your boot and at your foot and make some suggestions of some ideas that may help. If you can't get to an REI store easily, you could schedule a virtual outfitting appointment to speak with a footwear expert from the comfort of your own home.

Hopefully this helps and you're able to get back on the trail without experiencing this issue!

At REI, we believe time outside is fundamental to a life well lived.
