When researching new gear for the upcoming season, it can be difficult to find information outside of the marketing descriptions from the manufacturer early in the year. What are some good ways to look up the previous track record of a product line's performance? I notice most retailers only show the previous years reviews and the rest disappear, what happens to review data from the past? Are there any good websites that archive older reviews or product information like www.MTBR.com?

Andrew Skurka doesn't review everything, but what he does review has been thoroughly tested. And he certainly has the "trail cred!" I've purchased products based on his reviews and they have performed precisely how he described. No, I don't get a kickback for mentioning him, if you're the skeptical type!
