I'm new to the Ft. Worth/Dallas area. What are the best outdoor spaces to go to? I also love volunteering in the outdoors, I'd appreciate it if you know about something! Thanks!!!
@Anapqvd Thanks for reaching out!
Congrats on your recent move to the Fort Worth/Dallas area! We reached out to our team in Fort Worth for some suggestions on outdoor recreation. Here is what they recommend:
Additionally, if you are looking for some stewardship opportunities, we recommend connecting with Groundwork Dallas or BikeDFW.
I hope this helps, best of luck!

@Anapqvd Wichita National Wildlife Refuge in Oklahoma is a little more than 2 hours drive. Found out about it and went there this spring for the first time (after living in DFW 37 years) - prettiest place I’ve seen within a couple hours’ drive! Lots of hiking and wildlife. They have a herd of bison.
@AnapqvdDepends on what you like to do. For easy day hiking, I like the Benbrook Horse and Nature Trail. You can get a 10 mile hike in (out and back) from the trailhead.

Lake Mineral Wells State Park has hiking of various levels as well as camping. You can also rent canoes, kayaks, SUP. https://tpwd.texas.gov/state-parks/lake-mineral-wells
Trinity Trails for biking/running/walking. Lots of miles available and multiple trailheads throughout the area.
