Recreational Bike options for our family.

Hi - I'd like to buy our family bikes and pickup at the Dillon, Co store.  Having trouble sorting through the various bike options online without the help of a great employee.  We will use the bikes for riding around (hilly) town on mainly paved paths.  If we do any mountain biking, we'll be renting from a bike shop.  This is purely for family use.  Can you give me one or two models you'd recommend for this kind of use.

Hello @Frigs thanks for all the detailed info on where you intend to use the bikes! Considering you're going to rent if you head out on technical trials, it sounds like you could narrow it down to either hybrid or comfort type bikes.

Hybrids will handle pavement and a very light trail (bike path, horse trail, gravel) and will put you in a bit more efficient pedaling position (you'll be leaning forward a bit more).

Comfort bikes will sit you more upright, in a less efficient position. Either option will be available with mounts for bike racks, or to potentially tow a trailer if needed too.

Hybrid options: Co-Op Cycles CTY series or the Cannondale Quick Series

Comfort option: Electra Bikes check out the townie series. They have options with up to 21 speeds for use in hilly areas like you specified.

At REI, we believe time outside is fundamental to a life well lived.
