Fit Advice: Bike helmet for round head

Our 13 YO son is starting to get serious about biking. He rides almost every day for about an hour on the roads in our suburban area. We’d like him to have a better helmet than the cheap one he has now. We purchased the Smith Portal MIPS in large and it’s great - for me and his dad! However, while the circumference measures large enough for his head, it’s not wide enough. He apparently has a very round skull! Specifically, it presses on the bones behind his ears. Very bummed, because we like the features and styling of the Smith helmets.

Any suggestions for a helmet that is likely to fit him better?

@LisaWB Thanks for reaching out!

We're sorry to hear that the helmet you have isn't working for your son. We do have a few suggestions that might work better for him:

Lastly, you can check out this Expert Advice article on How to Choose a Bike Helmet for some more information on the different kinds of bike helmets and their features.

Hopefully this helps!
