When going to a campground I haven't been to before I like to look at photos of available options to avoide any surprises upon arival. Since photos are not always available through booking services, I use these guys:

Oh wow this is awesome!  I'm going to a new place in a few weeks and looked it up to check it out.  Amazing that it has pictures of each site.  Thanks for sharing!

Hip Camp ( has introduced me to some great camping places that I would not otherwise have known about.

This is nice!  Great UI.

This looks great too!

If looking at National Forest specific areas I like using their Interactive Visitor Map. Check it out here!

I like to use Camping Project through REI to help search for campsites. It has a good amount of campground information, but also lists out trails and climbing nearby-- all in one place! I would check it out if you get a chance!

At REI, we believe a life outdoors is a life well-lived.

If I’m doing overlanding, I use iOverlander (iPhone app). When looking for amenities, I’ll look at either ParkAdvisor (iOS) or

the Dyrt is another new App, I look at Hipcamp as already noted here as well.
