Sleeping Bag Zipper Replacement

I have a Wilderness Experience sleeping bag that needs a new zipper.  It is a Solo model, and has a YKK zipper.  I believe I bought this bag from REI about 40 years ago.

I have looked at REI's repair suggestions and I don't think the problem is in the slide.  I think the plastic zipper pieces are worn.

What is the best way to go about having the zipper replaced.  I can sew (I still have and use my Frostline bag that I sewed from their kit), but I think at this point, I would like to have a professional replace this zipper.  If REI replaces zippers, should I send it to them, or should I simply find a local tailor and have them replace it.  I'm assuming I can find a replacement from YKK.

@OldTimer1 wow, 40 years and just now needing a new zipper - that's impressive!

For this type of repair, we'd recommend working with Rainy Pass Repairs, as they specialize in the repair of technical outdoor gear, sleeping bags included!

At REI, we believe time outside is fundamental to a life well lived.
