I have read very good reviews on the REI Half Dome 2 plus tent with the exception of the pole shock cords going slack after a few uses. I've not seen any complaints about pole shock cords for other tents that I have looked at (Mountain Hardware, Big Agnes, Exped, etc.). Has this issue been addressed by the manufacturer?
While there were some isolated issues with shock cord in REI Co-op Half Dome 2 plus tents a few years ago, those have been corrected and did not impact every model of the tent. The current models of the Half Dome have displayed no such issue.
Hopefully this helps, thanks!
At REI, we believe time outside is fundamental to a life well lived.
I have this exact issue with my Half Dome 2 tent purchased around 2015. After fewer than a half dozen uses with the tent stored indoors, I pulled it out last year and the shock cords had gone slack. My other, much older tents are fine. Is there a replacement program for those of us who purchased the Half Dome 2 with the defective shock cord?
