I purchased a Hydro Flask several years ago. The innards have begun to rust. Upon returning to retailer for exchange, the response was over 2 years out of coverage, too bad! So outside of a year I should expect this? Seems that aside from the defect, ingesting rust is not a good thing. Has anyone else had this issue with this product? Determining the next course of action since REI does not want to take action.

As Hydro Flask products are made with stainless steel, you definitely should not being seeing rust in your water bottle. Likely, that means the inside of your water bottle may have a chip or crack in it. Is the outside dented or cracked in any way?
Hydro Flask does offer a limited lifetime warranty, you can check out more information about filing a warranty claim with them here.
