Recently my husband and I finished our cargo trailer camper conversion. We spent 2 1/2 long weekends building a camper that fit our needs. We uploaded a video to Youtube( https://youtu.be/GhAnz9JmrnQ) for anyone who is looking to get ideas on how to build their own.
After a year of researching many compact trailers, and their outrageous prices for a shelter on wheels, we found a few campers who built their own custom campers out of cargo trailers. Keep in mind we have no carpentry experience, never built a camper before, and used the experience we had from being previous camper (tent trailer, and a travel trailer) owners, to know what would work best for us. We made countless trips to Home Depot, and saw the UPS driver on a regular basis, due to our Amazon orders.
Our first camping trip to Kaibab Lake in Arizona was a success. The only thing we wished we had brought was our reclining camping chairs, for a nice nap in the mountain air.
We look forward to more trips to the PCT (husband is section hiking) and camping whenever and wherever we want!
