Hi All. Looking for recommendations for easy walking hikes. In and Near South San Jose. I'm new to hiking and have a bad knee. I'm even looking for friends to walk with.
Hi @xsabmomx !
I love Alviso Marina County Park especially for sunset. It's completely flat and great bird watching and views of the bay as well as Baylands Park in Sunnyvale. https://www.sccgov.org/sites/parks/parkfinder/Pages/SunnyvaleBaylands.aspx
Another favorite which is completely flat but stunning is Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park past Boulder Creek area. I would take all of my out-of-town friends here to just admire the beauty of the old growth redwood trees.
I've used this resource before to find hikes: https://bahiker.com/extras/allaccess.html
I've had some friends who use meetup.com to find good hiking groups and meet other people.
I hope that helps! I'm glad you're getting outside and into hiking. My days are always better when I get outside.
@xsabmomx i second the recommendation for henry cowell. easy to get to, flat trails that are stroller/wheelchair friendly and lots of great redwoods to see. theres also a creek you can splash in.
Presumably San Jose. CA. This resource might help...

As far as hiking with others I would search out local hiking groups and clubs.
