Kayaking in the Bay Area

New to kayaking in the Bay Area and was wondering if anyone has a list of their favorite paddles around the area?

@MarkM Thanks for reaching out!

Welcome to the community! We actually had another user post a very similar question a couple of weeks ago. We encourage you to check out this thread and join the conversation on our Bay Area board, Suggestions for good places to kayak in the bay area. (In addition, we've moved your post to the Bay Area board so folks can find all suggestions in the same place!)

Hope this helps!

At REI, we believe time outside is fundamental to a life well lived.

Great question! Check out Meet Up or Vallejo Bike and Kayak on Facebook.  They are informative and friendly groups. Happy paddling! Kathy

Personal favorites: Easy day = Elkhorn Slough by Moss Landing; seals, jellyfish, little leopard sharks, and more birds than most of us can name. Time the tides for easy paddle and keep track of your route so you don't get "lost" inside all the little channels.

Bigger day: Drop in at Carmel Beach and paddle north to check out Stillwater Cove and then south to Moss, Whaler's and Bluefish Coves. If the weather is calm, slide out toward Point Lobos, but don't turn the corner south unless you know what you're doing.
