Found these in my basement and brought back memories. My girlfriend and I were living in Vail, CO in the early 1980's and would go to Denver once in awhile to shop. I discovered the REI store on a trip in 1983, joined and bought these glasses because I did a lot of solo backpacking in winter. We decided to get married , move back to Virginia and spend our honeymoon on the AT in the summer of 1984. During the winter of 83-84 we made plans and made several trips to the Denver store for backpacking supplies. We still have one of the original closed cell foam ground pads. We like to now stop at the Richmond store when we are down there. I still throw the pack on several times a year and always think back to those winters in Colorado.
