Favorite Southeast U.S. Backpacking spots?

Favorite Southeast U.S. backpacking trips?

Besides the AT? Smiley Wink So far, that's where my backpacking is.

I'm hoping to do some something on the Foothills Trail ( in South Carolina. And possibily the Benton MacKaye Trail (

Then there's the Art Loeb Trail in western NC.

Lots on my to-do list.

I would agree with lkmi, anywhere on the AT is beautiful and a good place to backpack.  Every time I go out I always come across some great people willing to chat or share their food. I love how you can pretty much hop on the AT at any point and access is relatively easy. I recognize the Benton MacKaye Trail mentioned above, but can't remember if I hiked it or just researched it.  Either way, I think it would also be a great option.
