Why didn't REI extend the Anniversary Sale member coupon when stores aren't fully open?

Hi, I am a member and really want to use the ANNV20 discount benefit, but cannot make a purchase of a new backpack without actually trying them and comparing in store. Why does the coupon expire today, 5/25, before the REI Dublin store even gets to open again? Very frustrated.

@Bullfrog70 we're so sorry for the frustration that our store closures has caused, especially as it relates to outdoor gear that requires assistance with fit (like packs, shoes and bikes). We do offer a virtual outfitting service to try to help our customers hone in on the "right" item for their specific circumstances, recognizing this isn't the same as being able to come in-store to try things on. We will likely have additional sale events throughout the summer, and hope to have our stores more fully open as well, so hopefully we'll still be able to help you get a pack that fits at a great price!

I appreciate your quick response. No, virtual outfitting would not work with several items I was interested in trying and purchasing. I will be anxiously awaiting the next sales event (hopefully very soon) in order to take full advantage of 20% off.
