What is considered a 'proof of purchase' for a return?

If I am returning an item in store but without paper receipt or digital receipt, is purchase history just as good?

Thanks for reaching out!

When making a return or an exchange at REI we ask that you have a proof of purchase with you. Here is a list of some of the things that qualify as a proof of purchase:

  • Register Receipt
  • Gift Receipt
  • Email Receipt
  • Order Invoice
  • Packing Slip
  • Bankcard lookup
  • Purchase History from your membership

It looks like you have your membership attached to your account here in the community. If you purchased your item with your membership, the customer service representative should be able to look up your purchase for you when you return your item.

Hopefully this helps, thanks!

At REI, we believe time outside is fundamental to a life well lived.

Thank you for that info, it helped and I do have the purchase history to show proof
