Hi - I am looking for hiking boots or shoes that have a narrow toe box, possibly one that's narrow all over. I find my Keens are very wide so my foot slides around inside. I've tried a couple of other boots and shoes but my heel slides up, which gets uncomfortable really fast. These are for 5- to 8-miles hikes on forest trails and my goal is to go as fast as I can for the best possible cardio workout. Thank you for your help!
@Gigi Thanks for reaching out!
While we can make some recommendations based on general fit, your best bet would be to head to your local REI Store to speak with a footwear specialist. Additionally, you can set up a personal outfitting appointment as well to get some focused, one on one attention.
Since you are looking for a narrower shoe, we recommend starting with La Sportiva and Vasque, as those brands tend to work for people with lower volume feet. Lastly, be sure to check out this Expert Advice article on How to Lace & Tie Hiking shoes, as that can make a really big difference in how your foot moves inside a shoe.
Hope this helps!
@Gigi I also have narrow feet and highly recommend the Oboz Bridger mid boot or low shoe. I have also added a pair of Superfeet to ensure a snug fit. As @REI-JohnJ mentioned, setting up an outfitting appointment (if possible) can be really helpful for a hiking boot fit. Hope this helps!
