I was wondering why REI didn't participate in Smartwools 2nd cut project during Earth Day week?
Retailers collected socks to return to Smartwool for recycling. There were only a handful of retailers in Wa that did, 2 of them were in the Methow Valley. I was pretty disappointed that REI wasn't one considering how many socks they sell.

Hi @reuse100 - Thanks for reaching out! We appreciate your question. One of the reasons we are excited about this community is the chance to hear feedback from our customers on topics that are important to them.
We're consistently exploring take-back programs. As a retailer of over 1,000 brands — many with take-back programs — we look for opportunities where REI is best positioned to use our infrastructure to contribute to solutions at scale. Currently, we're focused on capturing (and eventually eliminating) thin film plastic bags frequently used in our industry. If you haven’t already, we invite you to read more about our zero waste efforts on our Stewardship Page.
At REI, we believe time outside is fundamental to a life well lived.
