I am returning a gift, how will I receive my refund?

I received a gift from my parents. If they placed order online using credit card, would I get a refund as a check or cash ? Have another gift purchased via paypal. Instruction for the gift returns a little bit confusing. In what casesPlease clarify.

1) Gift purchased online with credit card. How do I get money back ? Cash or check ?

2) Gift purchased online with paypal. How do I get money back? Cash or check ?

In  what cases, the original purchaser will be refunded ?

thanks, but the confusion clearly comes from the store managers. you need to clearly outline the guidelines and policies for all employees, or you business will run into trouble. Will try another store and report my experience then.
