How do I fix tent poles when the cord is stretched out/broken?

I have a Kelty 4 Eden tent which I bought from REI  and the cord suspension between the rods have become stretched out making it hard to set up the tent. Do you sell comparable tubes for this tent or a way to fix the cords?

@Tulipann so glad you reached out, as this is a common topic we see as tents age. Luckily, there are some options for repair:

  • If you're up for doing it yourself, we've got an Expert Advice article that'll walk you through how to replace the shockcord in your tent poles
  • If you'd prefer to have someone else do the repair, we recommend Tent Pole Technologies

Hope this helps; let us know if you have additional questions!

At REI, we believe time outside is fundamental to a life well lived.

Seems this is a common problem and likely a poor choice of material by the manufacturer.  There should be a clear and complete replacement plan.  REI should have a chart for all the affected products with the upgraded cord type, diameter and length, or just make it easy with rebuild kits for each product.
