@mike63078 thanks for reaching out! We aren't able to send a bike to a store for you to try first; the best way to accomplish this is to order the bike on REI.com and select your desired local REI store as your shipping destination; you will provide be required to provide a payment method, however we only place a hold for the amount on your credit card/account at the time you place your order. When the bike arrives at the store, you can head in to pick it up, and if for any reason it doesn't work, you can then process a return while you're there. Hope this helps!
