Are the weights listed on line for the Magma Trail Quilts accurate? The Magma Trail Quilt - Long is listed as 1 lb. 4 oz. and the Magma Trail Quilt - Regular is listed as 1 lb, 3 oz. The Long is also listed as having one ounce more down than the Regular size quilt, accounting for the one ounce difference in weight between the two models. However, the Long is 6 inches longer than the Regular. Wouldn't the additional material in the shell for the Long add a little more weight to the Long model? Or is the added weight so minimal that it's not worth mentioning? Or? I'm thinking of buying one, and just thought I'd ask.
Thank you very much, graydan.
Thanks for reaching out! We reached out to our Co-op Brands team to find out this information for you. We'll circle back here in the community when we hear back. Stay tuned, thanks!
Thanks for your patience as we got some more information for you. It is normal to have some small differences in the weights of the same product, particularly in the ultralight categories when weights are measured in ounces. Inevitably, when making products, there is some variability in the weights of the materials used. This is particularly true when using a product like down fill for a sleeping bag. While the numbers listed are accurate weights of the product, there is a chance that they fell on opposite ends of the spectrum when they were weighed (the long slightly lower, and the regular slightly higher). As an example, we weighed a short version of the Magma quilt and it came in at 1 lb 1oz, a half ounce under its listed weight of 1lb 1.5oz.
Hopefully this helps and you enjoy your new quilt!
