What is the main differences between the REI Co-Op tents: Half Dome and the Trail Hut Tents?

While the REI Co-op Trail Hut and the REI Co-op Half Dome 2+ tents are very similar in their design, there are a few important differences between the two:

• The poles for the Half Dome tent are all integrated into a single hub, making pitching super easy.
• The Half Dome two gives you four inches more in width, length, and height, providing significantly more livable space. The vestibules are also larger.
• The Trail Hut comes with a footprint included.
• The doors of the Half Dome zip almost completely around, so all you need to do to keep the door open is stuff it in a pocket within the tent. The Trail Hut requires you to roll up the door and secure with clasps.
• The rainfly of the Trail Hut can be rolled back to eliminate the vestibule and provide a more open feel on clear nights.

All in all, the Half Dome tent is a more robust, feature rich backpacking tent that provides a bit more space for basically the same amount of weight.

Also the Trail hut doors work in opposite directions which suits head to toe sleeping for two but is less convenient for head to head sleeping.

The Half Dome doors can be opened from either end making sleeping direction flexible.
